I don't see why it wouldn't work with your existing CAT5e cables given how short the run is. I've seen lots of VOIP setups using CAT5e and PoE.

FWIW, a 256gB Sandisk Ultra micro sdxc card doesn't work in the player. It won't recognize that a card is in the player. The 200gB one works fine.
