    Should we ban disposable batteries?

Our in-home security system uses a ton of batteries. They are changed once a year. A couple of years ago I tried the rechargables in them. They didn't last very long. One thing you don't want to happen is have a battery go dead at 2AM. The alarm system goes off. If you think a beeping smoke...

    Should we ban disposable batteries?

Eventually recharables won't charge or hold a charge and then need to be disposed of. After a few years of banned throw-aways, you will be back to where we are now. Better recycling is the way to go. Ban batteries...No Bozo :joker:

Should There be a Ban on Incandescent Lamps?

Our power company bill shows a comparison of electric used to-date compared to the same time period as last year. I am seeing a substantial decrease in power consumption this year over last. I have installed 18 CFL lamps throughout the house, inside and out. I also upgraded my computer power...

Should There be a Ban on Incandescent Lamps?

A relative put a dimmer ahead of a high intesity under counter lamp set (6 bulbs) The bulbs are incandesent but operate at 400Hz rather than 60Hz. There was no warning on the box or paper work about using a dimmer. So about once a year the 'ballast' would die. The dimmer reduced the voltage to...

Most safety recalls are based on how many complaints have been made to the feds. Once they get involved, they pressure the manufacturer to issue a recall. And remember, not all recalls are for safety items. I've had recalls for cracks in the plastic dashboards. This was a cosmetic recall. Bozo...
