In the 12+ years I have been building computers, I have bought 1 AOpen (AX6B?) motherboard (that is still running) and 1 ASUS motherboard (which I plan on setting on fire) all the rest were Intel or Supermicro. The new Gigabyte motherboard will have to meet some pretty high standards...

    Data Recovery Situation

Is this a single drive on the RAID controller or is it RAID 0,1, or 5?? If it is a single drive, go into the BIOS and turn off the RAID controller. It should revert to a standard IDE contoller then. Posibly the computer will boot then. Bozo :joker:

RAID Level Migration (LSI 320-1 Controller)

It will still work. Use Drive Image or Acronis. I have never used Ghost. Drive Image doesn't seem to care where you reinstall, as long as the OS has the drivers installed first. In this case they should be as the OS is booting from the array already. Bozo :joker:

RAID Level Migration (LSI 320-1 Controller)

Do a backup of the entire system. Change the hardware from RAID5 to RAID 10. Reinstall the software. The drivers for the RAID card are already installed, so it should reinstall without issues. (the drivers don't know if it is RAID 0, 1, 4, 5, 10 or whatever.) Bozo :joker:

    Strnge HOST file happenings

    Good gods why? (Vista)

In XP, if you look in the Windows directory, you will find a 'prefetch' folder that does about the same thing as Vista. It monitors your computer use and tries to preload what it thinks you will be using. A resource hog too. I usually disable it in the registry. Bozo :joker:
