    Dell XPS 13?

I ordered one today from the Dell Outlet. The deal wasn't as good as before, but I got the config I wanted. I wouldn't have minded 16GB of RAM over the 8GB config I got but that's just not an option with the FHD screen and I didn't want to sacrifice battery life with the higher resolution...

Nah, I won't get a replacement. The model is now discontinued.

HiFiman is living up(down?) to their reputation. They replied to my e-mail with a response basically claiming that they don't include a 4-pin balanced XLR cable with HE-560's and that must have been an accessory Adorama included. Nevermind the fact that the extra XLR cable was included in the...

You, like many others have Trump Derangement Syndrome. Why don't you just own it? It's called creating a competitive business environment in the US. You see all the people getting raises and bonuses because of the tax cut? You see all the new announced investments and expansions in the US...

It's mostly political theater. No one is going to not get their money. They might have to wait a little bit though. Previous recent "shutdowns" have taken place when Democrats were in the White House and they've intentionally tried to make the "shutdown" as painful as possible on the American...

The gov't doesn't actually shut down. It's all a big bunch of nonsense whipped up by the media for political grandstanding. As far as I'm concerned they could leave it "shutdown" indefinitely. Who knew the imaginary rights of criminals illegally in the country were the hill for congressional...

Yes, the cable is removable. I'm hoping they will just send me a new cable.

I sent them an e-mail. We'll see if their support is as bad as their reputation. FWIW, the headphones sound good with the 1/4" TRS cable.

Well, I'm very underwhelmed with the HE-560. I think they sound pretty bad. Nothing like my HE-500. Edit: It's the stupid cable. The balanced XLR cable is wired wrong. Idiots... Oh, and it's glued together so I can't open it up and fix it.

I should also mention how great the Emotiva Airmotiv T1 speakers sounded that I heard at CES. I thought they sounded quite good. Then I saw the price and was floored.

    Dell XPS 13?

So they released an updated model in the fall with Kaby Lake-R with a true quad core processor. It apparently has quite a bit better performance. There's a new model that was announced for CES that has been tweaked to make it even thinner by removing all the USB 3.0 A ports and using a smaller...

HiFiHeaven... I thought about trying to refuse the shipment but the whole thing will turn into a big mess with a restocking fee or them not taking it. Win some... Lose some... I followed the link posted on slickdeals.net to see it.

Dang it all... Adorama has the HE-560's on sale for $350 shipped. Beats the $470 I just paid by just a bit. And of course, the place I purchased from doesn't accept returns. You can't win them all... :cursin:

I mostly just use it to listen to a few podcasts while at work where the glitches aren't noticeable. I'm going to bring my CM6631A board and optical cable in though and see if it behaves any better that way. I expect it will be flawless. I should also take the Grace m9XX unit home and confirm...

I have the worst luck with USB DACs. The nice Grace m9XX unit I got from Massdrop doesn't play nice with my work PC (Lenovo T470s running Windows 7). In both the Class 1 mode (driverless) and the Class 2 mode (requires drivers) there are regular periodic glitches in the audio. The Audio-Gd...

The HD6XX sounds pretty good, but pale in comparison to the HE-500s I have. They are more comfortable though. Of course they were less than half the price. I'm not sure what's going on with my HE-560 order. I guess buying from the cheapest place has its disadvantages as they haven't shipped...

For me, I only need two SPF+ once I initially go 10gb. The MicroTik would work. Sure, it doesn't have any room for expansion, but it's cheap enough that by the time I need to add a 3rd 10gb computer (not anytime soon) there will likely be other cheap fanless switch options with more SPF+ ports...

    Shooting Video (HQ "4k"/UHD/1080p)

A fluid video head is great if you're using a tripod. For handheld shooting they don't do squat (as they're not used). The ZhiYun gimbal I played with at CES had very smooth panning in one of the modes controlled by twisting the handle. I want to get more professional looking stable video...

So I ordered up the HE-560 instead of the Sundara despite having not heard them. I saw a few people on HeadFi indicate they thought the HE-560 sounded better than the Sundara. I had been eyeballing the HE-560's for many months as an upgrade to my HE-500s when they first dropped to $499...

    Shooting Video (HQ "4k"/UHD/1080p)

Anyone here dabble with shooting high quality video? When I last messed around with shooting video...

Maybe the two systems with 10gb need to talk to each other over a very high bandwidth link and still talk to other systems and you don't want the headache of connecting the two 10gb systems directly to each other and also to a 1gbE switch and have to manage which interface they use for...

Yes, I've seen the same complaining that they won't sell parts and that they're not so friendly with warranty claims. It wouldn't stop me from buying, but I would give it some consideration. The products from them I do have held up well and still work.

    Bluetooth speakers

XB41 was at CES. XB40 is last year's model and I have one at home. I didn't extensively A/B the XB3 and the XB40, but I thought they sounded similar with the XB40 able to play louder before rolling off the bass.

Sony added 1 to the model numbers. So XB41, XB31 etc. for 2018. They're wrapped in a fabric of sorts and have a "live" mode where you can play them like a drum by tapping on them. the sound effects get superimposed on the music.

Saw it today. It looks good. I'm not sure how it really differs from the Sony CLEDIS displays that have been shown before though supposedly the 146" Samsung will be a commercial product officially announced in a few months whereas CLEDIS is more of a "call us" custom product.

Gamut, yes. Uniformity remains to be seen in consumer products. The prototypes look good though. Stability should be better than OLED since they're not organic. This is basically LED video wall tech on a tighter and tighter pixel pitch. Sony and others also have similar products. The Sony...

My HTPC has two optical drives in it. They were used for ripping Blu-ray and DVDs, now they're mostly idle. Maybe I missed something, but I'm pretty sure Leia didn't die in TLJ, so I'm not exactly sure why Carrie Fisher's death affected your enjoyment of the movie. Well, they haven't released a Black Panther movie yet, so maybe you're not as far behind as your feared.

I have had T-Mobile for about 2 years. Last spring I moved over two of the numbers from Verizon and switched to a T-Mobile family plan. I finally killed off the last line with Verizon by porting the number to Google Voice (which forwards to the T-Mobile number).
