So I've listened to them much closer and longer this morning from my Sony NW-A35 Walkman. They image very nicely and have good clarity and transparency without being overly bright or glaring. I do wish they had a little more low end thump at the very bottom though. According to all accounts...

    Something Random

Even if the program is Mickey Mouse and he gets a real job it's still highly dependent on what the real job is. Some fields will overlook a lack of a degree if you have good relevant experience. Most others will not. Fair or not, a college degree is often simply used as way to thin the pool...

    Looming Silicon Wafer Shortage

Maybe. My point was more that the wafer cost might be significant portion of the price on a $100 Celeron, but not on a $2k Xeon.

    Looming Silicon Wafer Shortage

That depends on the product and the die size. The wafer may make up the a sizable cost on a low end Intel processor, but not much on a high end one even if the die is larger on the high end chip.

I had a pair of noise cancelling headphones from them many years ago that I no longer use, but that hardly counts. My office is too noisy for open headphones, so I use closed back headphones.

    Audio Equipment

So my HD6XX headphone arrived on Friday. I gave them a quick listen yesterday just to make sure they worked. They seem to be working okay. Nothing immediately objectionable about the sound. As I expected they're a little different in sound from some of the other headphones I have (which...

Second opinion on some electrical calculations

Isn't 48V the limit for low voltage wiring per the Electric Code? Something to be aware of if there's an inspector involved anywhere. Your idea generally seems okay though.

    Amtel is Real

It's hard to say exactly why they're doing it. There's some speculation that it's mainly for Apple since they currently use Intel + AMD graphics and this makes the package smaller. It could also be that Intel is doing this to keep the regulators at bay even though they would really rather do...

Intel Coffee Lake Another Rush Job

It's hard to say say. My Dad taught me that at a pretty young age. Maybe it's not as common knowledge as I thought, but for me it doesn't matter of I'm putting a wheel on a car or tightening down a HSF in a PC. I always get all the screws/nuts/bolts started before torquing/tightening...

Intel Coffee Lake Another Rush Job

He's about as sharp as a marble. You don't torque the first screw down all the way until you have them all started in the threads. Now granted I haven't built a Threadripper, but this is basic assembly. You get all the screws started before you start tightening any of them.

That's not really necessary. The forum just needs to be set so that no posts from a new, just-registered user will be visible until a moderator blesses them until they pass something like 5 approved posts (and have it actually work).

    Proposed NAS build

FWIW, the rebuild completed successfully without incident. It took 14hours and 30 seconds to complete. I used the machine normally during that time so it's possible that my playing media files from it may have slowed it slightly.

All WPA2 WiFi security is broken?

This one is easy. Never... If it's an expensive name brand piece of equipment like a TV or something like a Blu-Ray player and it's only a few years old they might get a firmware update, but the extreme majority of devices are going to be left out in the cold. I wouldn't even presume that...

I'm not confused at all. Perhaps you need to brush up on your English. My post indicates the proper order of events. But, you're really trying to tell me that if Intel had launched a platform and called it AM3 before AMD did, AMD would would be the idiots for continuing their established...

Intel Coffee Lake Another Rush Job

So what idiot at AMD thought it was a good idea to make sure their chipset would be confused with the Intel ones. No one was going to confuse AM3 with Z77 or Z87, but they had to roll out a 300 series chipsets when Intel had 200 series chipsets, and now Intel has 300 series chipsets too.
