    Need some memory settings help

It's this kind of agravation and nonsence with AMD motherboards that keeps me from switching to AMD. I wish AMD would produce their own Quality board that you install and it just works. Maybe Supermicro will step up to the plate with a Quality board. Bozo :mrgrn:

If your laptop 'looks' like a laptop to the bagage gorillas, you may never see it again. Hopefully it was in your suitcase or camo'd to not look like a laptop. Once you get west of Philly (about 80 miles) there is real civilization. Even grass and trees. Delaware is a great state. Wilmington is...

Both AC and DC are equally deadly. With AC you have a chance to break free as the current passes throgh zero twice a second. (60Hz). But this plays hell with the heart. DC is constant. It's hard to break free. While connected to a large DC potential, the current is burning the flesh, usually...

    Why doesn't somebody...

Having the power supply supplied with DC creates it's own problems. To change the voltage from 12V to 5V or 3.3V would require resisters (lots of heat) or an electronic circut. The output from the electronic circut would be choppy at best, or more filters would have to be added. In a normal...

    Weird problem with current OS

All the power companies power lines are protected by circut breakers. If there is a fault on the line, the breaker opens, or 'tripps'. This is just like your home. In your home you must manually 'close' or reset the breaker to get power back. But the power companies lines are outdoors. During a...

    Choice of thermal compound

I use Dow Corning 340 silicone heat sink compound. At work this stuff last for years in our electronic equipment. I'm talking 10-15 years or more on SCR drives that take more abuse and heat than a CPU will ever get. Bozo :mrgrn:

This is being played back on a DVD player for a TV. It looks like DVDShrink is the culprit. It hasn't been updated in a while. DVD Decrypter seems to work. I'm using Nero 6 with all the updates now. The first burn was done with EZ CD and the second with Nero 6 without the updates. The DVD I...

I ripped a movie using Dvdshrink to an ISO file on a Raptor hard drive. I then used Nero to burn the DVD. The DVD is a double layer Memorex so I didn't do any compression when I made the ISO. Weird problem with current OS

You need a UPS. FYI: In case of a fault on the lines, the power companies' circut breakers are set to automatically reset 3 times before they finally open and stay open. This can play hell with any electrical equipment that is running at the time. Bozo :mrgrn:
