problem Trying to get VPN LAN side distributed across VLAN fails

Turned out to be something with the switch programming, the one creating the vLAN that is. Moved it over to a different switch and it worked fine now.

Major Qualcomm chip security flaws expose 900M Android users

Check out copperhead supported devices list, Google isn't doing too bad IMO when they enable things like this to exist. I'd return to iOS if security was the highest priority for me but it's about trade-offs and I also like flexibility. I'm really only against the vendors/carriers that are...

Major Qualcomm chip security flaws expose 900M Android users

That's a concern but for me it's mitigated once the battery is big enough and the phone is available with enough memory (6P/64gb). Now that google is pushing monthly updates I think we are seeing who is going to put the effort in to keep up to date and shame those that don't. Google knows that...

Major Qualcomm chip security flaws expose 900M Android users

This vuln is way overblown. To activate it you need to sideload an app and disable google app verification. Things you probably should be doing unless you really trust where you got that app from. The only android vuln that worried me was stagfright but it's fixed. At least on Nexus and other...

    Surface Pro

I had a surface pro 3 for about four months. I wanted something a bit more powerful than an android tablet that wasn't a full laptop. The surface pro wasn't it. It was a frustrating mobile experience. -The on screen keyboard sucks. On android I really like swiftkey, on windows they don't...

    Calendar for Android

I use fruux for my back end calendar and contacts. They are a really good and focused pay service and focus on dav for syncing. Work I'm using a google calendar. Smartphone and plan advice (v. clean slate)

Well I'm pretty sensitive to lag and I have a bunch of android devices so I can tell when something isn't right. I generally run the animation scale at .5x which really speeds things up and uncovers slower devices. The LG G4 on 5.1 wasn't as horribly lagy as say the Nexus 9 for its first six...

Smartphone and plan advice (v. clean slate)

LG G4? I had an import before it was brought to the US and loved the form factor, great hardware. Hated whatever they did to the software to make it laggy, I stuck it out for three months and sold it being pretty disappointed. If you are sensitive to pauses and stutters I'd give it a pass. The...

problem Trying to get VPN LAN side distributed across VLAN fails

Good questions, some clarification: 6. -Devices on the VLAN can reach each other no matter what building they are in but they can NOT reach the LAN side configuration page of the VPN. Sometimes they can ping the LAN side of the VPN but mostly it fails. The VPN seems to be singled out here for...

problem Trying to get VPN LAN side distributed across VLAN fails

We will look at this possibility. My thinking at the time was manually entering the VPN device IP address on the network in other computers and devices as the gateway address should make that a non issue, at the same time avoiding an IP collision. Thanks.

problem Trying to get VPN LAN side distributed across VLAN fails

Read a little more and we are using port based VLAN, that port on the switch that our VPN LAN side is plugged into is assigned to the VLAN we want to use. Shouldn't need to tag the traffic too??

problem Trying to get VPN LAN side distributed across VLAN fails

This is what I am using: https://www.ccontrols.com/ctrlink/eipr.php It's pretty much OpenVPN inside but we are using their cloud solution so the amount of customization we can do in their configuration console is limited but I will look into it. My networking knowledge is fairly limited but...

    question Which Tablets

I was originally not getting the point of chromebooks, but now that they are getting android apps I'm completely turned around. I was looking for a decent big android tablet and not really liking what I found, but this low priced asus flip really fits the bill for me. The best part is the...

Two NICs : One for VPN to Internet - One for LAN

We do something similar on occasion. Basically I just leave the gateway blank on the NIC connected to the LAN. Windows seems to pick up that isn't rotatable and uses the other NIC for internet just fine, no additional configuration needed.

question I need a CMS for company internal documents and procedures: Recommendations?

The obvious choice, if there is an automated way to do it. I've also considered having moderated enrollment and just ignoring everyone that didn't have the right domain. Or maybe have one of the newbs create the accounts. I will definitely look into this. About the only thing attracting me to...

question I need a CMS for company internal documents and procedures: Recommendations?

Seems we are down on sharepoint for reasons I understand, it was a kludge of an intranet site. We don't use exchange but do use SQL and their VM stuff that I'm not really involved in. I'm finding myself getting more interested in vbulletin as it seems to kill two birds with one stone, (CMS and...

    New phone time

The nexus line of phones seem to universally have bad cameras. They had to save the money somewhere. I think the current one is better but not near flagship level. How are the HTC One X prices now? Been out for a while, shouldn't they be coming down? One X+ is the current version of it. Why...

I think I want to limit it to something I can get local repair support with. Even if it means I have to take it into a store and can't get the preferred on site. Is the memory upgradeable on the ASUS? I either want to start with 8gb or have the option.

Very nice, I missed that X1 Carbon. I was also looking at the T430s but it is a bit bigger than what I wanted. I'm just thinking how nice it would be to have something smaller without the optical drive bay. I only use an optical drive maybe once a year and if I specced the hard drive around...
