So, when I look at a laptop with an RTX3060 GPU in it, can you tell just by the model number which one is actually included? People who read reviews, look at benchmarks will know there are potentially 3+ variants, all called the 'RTX3060' and all vary by speed, wattage, memory bus and included...

IIRC Adobe products use the built in encoding engines (QuickSync on Intel, NVENC on nVidia) and on nVidia uses CUDA for acceleration for other operations... So depending on how well the CUDA code Adobe has written, you could see linear improvements based on the linear increase in CUDA core...

Another interesting note on the 12GB 4080, it uses a 192bit memory bus, which historically were only seen on 60's series cards. 70's and 80's always had 256bit+ memory busses.

Just got through watching some of the videos on youtube about the new cards, and there certainly is a lot of hate for the 12GB model name. (The card itself is fine, but hate for it being branded an 80's series card when many consider it's more like a 70's series card).

Why does the 12GB RTX 4080 really feel like it should have been called the RTX 4070? (less memory and memory bandwidth, less CUDA/Tensor core, fewer RT cores and lower shader performance).

Personally, just move from dual 20" 1680x1050 displays to a single 25" 2560x1080 monitor. (LG 25UM58) When the kids got new PCs late last year, I went with 24" 1080p@144Hz displays, mainly due to desk space requirements. (4K @ 24" was rare/expensive).
