What do you guys think of this corsair 8GB Flash Voyager GT drive?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820233054

I'm wanting to get a bigger drive (I have 256MB now) and I think 8GB is about right. The newegg reviewers all seem to think it is fast but don't like the case. I agree about the case but it won't be in my pocket, just my laptop case, no lint issue there.

On another related note, I got one of the American Express Gift Cards and where the heck can you use them online? Everything I look at is more than the $25 dollar value so I'd have to split the payment but neither zipzoomfly or newegg seems to know how to do that. Newegg customer support told me to buy one of their gift certificates with my amex gift card and then use that. But they only accept verified by visa cards for gift certificates! So frustrated.

That drive appeared on my price lists this morning. Please buy it and tell me if it's good. It costs me more than 95U$, but I'm starting to have demand for 8GB USB drive, so maybe I'll be able to sell a few. The GT is supposed to be very fast for a USB flash drive.

I washed my Transcend 8GB drive a couple days ago.
34 minutes in a commercial washing machine on the "warm" water setting.

I let it dry out for a day.

And it's fine.

The 1GB Kingston drive that was in the same pair of pants? Not so lucky.

About the flash drive washing : I imagine he simply forgot it in the pocket of his pants.

About the need for a 34 minutes wash : Merc is a substantial man and substantial men wear substantial clothes. The larger the clothes, the longer the cycle.

Nope. I've broken the plastic shell of most of mine, and now they are dishwasher safe (top rack ;)) The really small ones I have (Sony micro-something) are totally bulletproof; I've squashed one under my heel without incident.

Hey!
There was very little porn on it!
Only a couple dozen megabytes.

And they were just pictures my ex took at some nude beach she went to...

Actually, 34 minutes is what the timer on the washing machine says. I do not have any control over that, substantial or not.

Damn, 34 mintue is stil a long time fopr many fabricas. Why do you need 34 mintutes unless laundry is relaly dirty? 'Course I've only seen teh laundramat in movuies or TV and never used one, so what do i kbnow?

I had no idea there was anything like a time limit on how long water and soap are allowed to be in contact with my clothes.

34 minutes actually seems kind of short for me. Though I have a washing machine similar to this (older model).

Mine can take up to 3 hours to wash and then dry my clothes. I just start it before work and then when I get home they are clean and dry.

Our commercial ones at the apartment complex do a through wash in 38 minutes and dry a large full load (including jeans) in about the same time.

I don't remember how much it cost before but based on coug's reply I'd guess it was $95 dollars before. I paid $105.99. I see newegg has it for $129.99. I was ordering my other computer parts from mwave so I just ordered it with them. Newegg seems to be overpriced on some things lately. I wonder why?

I've been drooling over this stick for a while, but I keep hoping the price will drop. :(

Flash prices have been increasing since 2Q and with the Samsung accident, it may get worse before it gets better. :( Prices should drop in 1Q 2008 again.
