This new Acer 27" 2560 x 1440 panel is an IPS with 144Hz and G-Sync looks pretty good and has my interest. There is a review of it over at TFT Central. I imagine it doesn't appeal to many here but I thought it was nice to see a decent review and a good combination of specs for those who enjoy gaming.

$800 is awfully dear for a 27" display. I know the appeal is the high refresh rate, but that's somewhat higher than I'd expect given that we aren't talking about an Ultrasharp or Cinema Display. I'm sure that would be a sweet consumer-class monitor, but my experience with Acer panels is that they break frequently even when they're not in notebooks.

It is a premium but what other 27" IPS 1440P panel has 144Hz and G-Sync? The only other monitor in this segment that I'm aware of is the Asus ROG Swift PG278Q but it's a TN panel and very close to the same price. What other 27" panel would you suggest? I have no history or experience with Acer panels so you could very-well be right about the quality.

I might hope that a premium product would have better quality control than the $100 POS screens I'm used to. It certainly does annoy me to have to toss a 14-month-old monitor though.

I'm not sure what's normal, but $800 seems cheap enough to me.
