O.K this is a really small thing, but it's often the small things that annoy us the most... (Well me anyway)

The problem is this; Every time I view a pdf file adobe reader puts an icon on the desktop. I'm not really sure why it does this since all the program really does is to read pdf files (and I guess a few other formats), and since they open in adobe reader by default I don't know exactly what I'm expected to do with a desktop icon.
Even if I needed one I'd like to think that applications would respect my decision to remove it... But alas no, and there is no setting I can find to stop it.

Anyone got any ideas on how to stop this? Or even suggestions on an alternative pdf reader for windows that's not quite as bloaty would be nice...

Run this program:

http://www.acropdf.com/pdfsu.exe (freeware - no spyware/malware attached)

Make sure "No Adobe Reader icon" box is checked.

That might help. I'm just not positive if it only kills the icon generated from the initial install or all reoccurring icons.

If anything, your install will run noticeably faster and with less crap attached.
