The quake was 500 miles North-East of Auckland, i.e. in the middle of the ocean, in the middle of nowhere. It's intriguing to look at an atlas of that part of the world to see how incredibly sparse the islands are.

Just in case, I remotely checked a PC at a site in Auckland, and a Windows login greeted me cheerily. So thanks for asking, but everything below the equator's just fine.
