I went to try to access one of my drives today and it wasn't available. I attempted to unmount it and remount, but that didn't work.

I checked the system messages and see this repeating continually:

Code:
May 4 20:30:08 timwhit kernel: ata3.00: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 310)
May 4 20:30:08 timwhit kernel: ata3.01: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300)
May  4 20:30:08 timwhit kernel: ata3.01: configured for UDMA/66
May 4 20:30:08 timwhit kernel: ata3: EH complete
May  4 20:30:08 timwhit kernel: ata3.00: exception Emask 0x40 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x80800 action 0x7
May  4 20:30:08 timwhit kernel: ata3.00: SError: { HostInt 10B8B }
May 4 20:30:08 timwhit kernel: ata3.00: hard resetting link
May 4 20:30:08 timwhit kernel: ata3.01: hard resetting link

I restarted the system and noticed that one of the drives wasn't detected by the bios. I restarted again and it was there, but the screen after the post screen hung. I restarted yet again and both master and slave on channel 1 weren't detected. I switched out some power connectors and then everything was properly detected by the bios. I can now access all the drives normally. Both the drives that were not being detected were on the same cable.

So, I'm assuming that one of the +12V rails is broken. It looks like it's probably time to replace the power supply. It's an Enermax ELT500AWT 500W. I purchased it in July 2007. I might be able to replace it under warranty, but the Enermax warranty terms look annoying and expensive.

What would you guys recommend in around the same wattage with at least 8 SATA power connectors. I'd like to spend less money than last time ($110), since it doesn't appear that high priced power supplies last very long anyway.

That looks good, thanks. I hate MIRs though. Maybe I will have enough motivation to mail this one.
