Does anyone know of a utility that will test a Toshiba 2.5" notebook driven? Their website seesm to be useless. TIA

Toshiba's website is useless. Try looking for a driver for the wireless LAN chip that the scumbags do not include with the notebooks they sell despite prominently advertising "wireless LAN" for them, and which you have to buy seperately for an extra $140 and then wait three weeks for and which arrives in a box big enough to put a pair of shoes in and which does not include any drivers at all.

A complete scum act.

Tony,

Tell us how you really feel. ;) I guess it is no more Toshiba drives, then.

I think it's been at least 6 years since I've looked at any of old Steve Gibson's products, but does SpinRite work as a general drive testing utility? It's apparently still FreeDOS-based.

I think Spinrite is mostly used for recovery and not exactly free. I am hoping that Toshiba provides a utility similar to the IBM/Hibtachi DFT.

Unless something recently changed, the IBM tool would scan and test anyone's drive, not just their own.
