Stop me if you've heard this one:

Anyone who longs for the days of the SR Counter-Strike server will be pleased to know that it lives on in spirit (and community) at www.csreloaded.com.

If even one of you finds this information useful, then these were two minutes of my time well spent.

Your in 37th...way to go man! I haven't played in while. I got back into it, then stopped...now I'm stuck wasting away at Warcraft III.

I'll try to stop by for old time's sake. Thanks for the link.

I've been playing at Kort

I rather gave up on CSReloaded - No one was ever on their server. Though I did play some at CSReloaded today (there were two people on the server)

im in a CS clan (actually a Halflife clan that's part of a larger gaming clan)

I play CS several times a week, but lately have been playing natural selection(another half life mod) more than CS.

Mark, It's just a lull, I'm sure. They've been reworking the server lately, so you can expect a drop in attendace, but it'll be up at full steam again before long.

I have the CD already. Juzt haven't got around to installing it yet. Is it good?

If i hadn't gotten in a clan I think I would be bored with it after a month or so. One of the big things that kept me in the game was voice communication. The combination of playing with my friends(team) and being able to communicate is why I still play this game(for almost 2 years).

That being said, I think Halflife/Counterstrike was probably the most successfull computer game ever created. If you don't like the gameplay of the retail CS, you can always download a free mod like Day of Defeat (a WWII themed game), Team Fortress Classic(futuristic class based cap the flag game), Natural selection(futuristic alien vs soldier game), firearms, ricochet, etc, etc.

Most Halflife mods will run comfortably on pentiumII, a TNT1(in openGL) and sb128 sound card at about 800x600, so this game is a pretty easy task for a newer machine.

I should have said the single most successful game (as in engine).

There are, of course, the SIMS series (of which I've bought several games) and the Quake series. Both of which as a whole probably beat the single Halflife engine (which actually is based in large on the quake2 engine).

It is simply a first-person-shooter. It's main benefit compared to others is good internet play with voice communication. That creates the opportunity for people to become social and form communities of players. The big problem with the game is the number of immature "Kiddies" and hackers. It is important to get a good group of relatively mature people or else the social features disappear.
