Computers - Boy, this could take a while! LOL!! Let's see, I have four desktop computers total, networked together via my Linksys Cable/DSL router, so they can can instantly share files, my DSL connection, and all my peripheral devices. For anyone who wants the specs on all my babies and their toys, here ya go...

- MY BUTTKICKER is an Athlon XP 1700+ with 256MB DDR-RAM, a GeForce3 video card and 90GB total drivespace.
- MY OTHER BABIES are a 1.4GHz Athlon, 1.2GHz Athlon, and 800 MHz Pentium 3, each with 256-512MB RAM and 20-60GB drives.
- LAPTOP is an IBM A21m Thinkpad (Pentium 3-750 MHz, ATI Rage-Mobility video, etc.)
- PRINTERS include an HP Photosmart 1218 color inkjet for photo-quality pics, and a Brother HL-1240 laser printer for speedy text printouts.
- SCANNERS include a Nikon CoolScan Pro SF-200 w/adapter for auto-scanning 50 slides at a time, an HP Photosmart S20 for quick slide/negative/photo scans, and a UMAX Astra 3450 flatbed for larger printed images.
- VIDEO CARDS include 3 Nvidia Geforce2 cards (for gaming), and 3 ATI All-In-Wonder cards (for multimedia work & video editing).
- SOUNDCARDS are either Creative Soundblaster Platinum cards, or just the motherboard's crappy onboard audio. (I'm not a big audiophile, I'm afraid!)
- DIGITAL CAMERAS include a Canon Powershot S20 for still pics, and a Canon Elura 2MC Camcorder for video imagery.

Asia Carrera went to Rutgers on a full academic scholarship. Dropped out after her first year. She's a mensan (not that it's a big deal. pre-1995 SATs scores over 1350 qualify you, too). Supposedly, she wants to get away from performing by age 30. I think she's 28 or 29 now.

Asia has made some great movies, including a couple with computer themes ("Love at First Byte" and "Webmistress" come to mind), and is basically the porn poster-child for breaking stereotypes about performers.
She's a female Ron Jeremy (not that way. Ew), in that she can actually act, she's well spoken, and most especially, she's very funny.

Asia's been doing good work recently for Simon Wolfe studios, which showcases her more as an actress than some of the crap she did four or five years ago for Metro or Vivid.

I'm not linking to anything, but there's more about her on her personal pages (Kev's link) or at the Internet Adult Film Database (iafd.org, I think). The independently-researched bios at lukeford.com (don't go there. It's not what it used to be) back up about 90% of her public bio. Lastly, she's given on-film tours of her house several times. She's not kidding about all the computers.

Surprisingly, a good number of porno-chicks do their own web pages. I don't try to keep up, but it was a sort of ongoing scandal that girls would find some fan to make them a site, the guy would register the domain in his own name and basically steal the content provided by the starlet. That happened A LOT during the bubble. Now there are a small number of trusted names (Danni Ashe, for example) who make and host sites, and a fairly large number of girls who do it themselves (mostly smarter ones who know they're going to have to find something else to do when they're in their 30s).

I'm not. Stuff about Asia Carrera shows up in mainstream print all the time. Again, she's the one the whole industry points to when they want to say "we're not ALL sleazy idiots".

OTOH, I'm the guy who lists pr0n on my profile under "Hobbies".

So? May of '88. I know that she was trained as a ballet dancer and a flautist, married the photographer who photographed her centerfold and that she was an unusual Playboy subject for being the first asian centerfold since April 1967 (interestingly, there were three in the early 90s - the last in 1993, but haven't been any since).

Heh, I can just see someone approaching Merc: "I am interested in expanding my porn collection and am requesting proposals for a comprehensive consulting engagement that includes rationalization expansion, maintenance, and support of my current VHS, DVD, MPEG-2, and AVI libraries over the next 10 years."

Of course, Merc would win the bid and proceed to satisfy his client to no end, building his reputation through word of mouth as the world's premier authority on porn.

Sigh.

For me it's as much an academic interest as anything else. My personal interests actually run away from hardcore material and more to arty nudes and the like.

Nearly everyone I meet is interested on some level. Very few adult males have never viewed dirty pictures or movies, and most can tell a story or two about finding a magazine or watching a movie (something I think would be interesting to study). Porn is interesting in its ability to fulfill expectations. For some it's a positive. Life affirming, joyful and the story of feminist triumph. For others it's human tragedy played out thousands of times over.

Anyway, yes, I'm interested in porn. But probably not the ways you guys think.
