So, I thought that I was being all slick by putting my SCSI DVD drive on the unused channel of my LSI RAID controller. However, when I tried to play a video DVD, I would get copyright protection errors. In every other respect, the drive worked perfectly.

Now that I have it on a regular SCSI controller, everything works fine.

What is different about how the RAID controller presents the drive that stops the DVD playing applications from getting the information that they need, and is there any way arround this?

Maybe the software is unable to raed the RPC data off the drive. Perhaps something like DVD region free... or amybe just a firmware update for the controller/drive.

The drive is RPC1 and I tried DVD Genie. Is there some other utility that I should perhaps try?

Unfortunately, I'm kind of limited to using PowerDVD and WiMP (using the PowerDVD codec), as that is what I have.
