For NT class Op. sys. I spend more time "resolving www....." than waiting for the web page to load; my ISP's (Adelphia) DNS servers must be crappy. I remember there used to be programs that cached DNS entries locally and used that to go to a web site rather than query DNS servers. I searched Nonags and TUCOWS, but couldn't find anything. Naturally, I ain't paying for it.

Maybe Mr. Merc was using one in his dialup days?

TIA.

Try just switching DNS servers and see if your problem goes away.
Verizon's are 4.2.2.3 - .6

Other than that, if you've got some kind of Network OS sitting around, you could set up a nice caching DNS server.

Thanks, Merc.

Option #2 is out of the question.

Guess I could use SBC's DNS servers (my pevious ISP); they'd be a lot closer than verizon, methinks. Fastest of all would be the cache in my PC. I'll check DSLreports.com.
