So I built up my new HTPC yesterday. It works surprisingly well.

This morning I was checking the temperature of the CPU using Real Temp and CoreTemp. They reported the same thing, but core-0 appears to be stuck at 40C regardless of the load on the CPU (though the other core never got that hot). Core-1 moves around dynamically as I would expect.

I did a little Googling and there seem to be other people with stuck temp readings on Wolfdale CPUs. I had never seen this before, but apparently it's not that unheard of. :dunno:

Have heard of it, also thought it was odd. Not sure if that effects the throttling protection portion or not. If it did I would certainly consider RMA.

From what I've read online the stuck ones work above that temp, they just won't work below it. 40C isn't enough to engage any sort of thermal protection, so I guess I won't worry about it.
