Fun with SAS details

I had an issue this week to install a new SAS controller into a server and attach a tape drive. What I found was that the card would not see the drive if the card was plugged in to the end connector (of 2). If I plug the card into the middle connector it sees the drive fine. What's the story?

Slide the tape drive into the open bay, aligning the tray or rails with the slots after that attach the system SAS cable to the drive SAS connector. The SAS tape drive has a burst Your system will have a properly installed and configured SAS host adapter or a SAS controller.
