I have GRUB on my laptop since I installed a version of linux and am dual booting with WinXP.

I want to wipe the laptop hard drive and do a fresh install of only WinXP (do a dual boot of Linux on my Desktop machine instead).

Anything special I need to do to get rid of GRUB?

Thanks,
C

Hi Clocker. You need to wipe the master boot record, IIRC. That's the usual arrangement wit boot managers, anyway. FDISK /MBR from the command line. Or any number of 3rd party utilities can do it.

Looks like I can just boot from the WinXP disk and get to the recovery console to use FDISK, eh?

I would have thought just deleting the existing partitions and installing windows as normal would replace the MBR anyway.

I still use the old WIPE; it kills anything and everything.

It worked just fine. Used WinXP installer to delete both partitions, create a small partition of about 1/2 the drive and then install XP. No more grub.
