I always did like buying Clocker's stuff. Half the fun is undoing the 3/4 of a roll of packing tape he always uses for the package.

Right now it's a hair over $50. I put in a bid. $25 for an enclosure + $25 for a 40GB drive seems like a pretty damn good deal to me.

Hi Merc-

I'll throw in an extra layer of DUCT tape just for you...

Hey Merc-

Looks like you got sniped at the end there. If you still want it for $59 (free ship) I'll still give it to your for $59. I'd rather sell it to someone I know rather than a stranger. I'll just tell the winner that my nephew dropped the drive in my driveway and it appears not to function anymore (thus I can't sell it).

Let me know....

Not nearly enough tape on the box. It's sort of a let down. :)

The drive itself is pretty cool. It's a notebook drive in a sealed enclosure. It doesn't make noise, and it's very, very light.

Why ever did you get rid of it, C?

Howdy-
I thought it had a 3.5" drive in there, Merc. A 5,400 RPM WD Protege, IIRC.

Anyway, it is pretty cool and looks pretty neat. I took it with me when we went on our cruise because my cheap used laptop has no DVD player and I wanted to watch the rest of the first season of '24' which I have on DVD (and ripped to the Lacie). The drive is nice and the performance is good. It was just kind of big to lug around in my Laptop bag so I decided to get rid of it after the trip. It has been on a total of about 1-2 hours I'd say.

I replaced it with a 2.5" 40GB Toshiba 4,200 rpm laptop drive in a $20 USB2.0 Al enclosure from Newegg. I really like it 'cause it is USB bus powered and is much more portable. No cumbersome AC adapters to mess with...

Sorry to disappoint with the tape! I've been trying to cut back.
