I am trying to learn how to make Apache do what I want it to do using .htaccess and mod_rewrite. Tannin haz given up coz it'z too hard.

I always get the tricky jobz.

Tannin iz too old to lean anything now, and just parrots the same old nonsense at people every time but no-one ever seemz to notice exsept me, and no-one liztenz to me anyway so it looks like it'z up to me to figure it out for myzelf. You can tell when things start gettting comzplicated bekoz my zppeling getz lozt zomeware between my brainz and my toez and NOTHING MAKEZ ZENZE ENY MORE!

What are you trying to do with the rewrite? How about a beginners guide to mod_rewrite.

Be easy on the him Tea...I tried getting into mod_rewrite and I can see why is giving up. It can get complex depending on what you're trying to do. But just think about the skill you'll gain if you do learn it. You can do some very nice things with mod_rewrite to improve the functionality of your website. I'm sure you've seen some of this in acction over at wikipedia. They use it for their URL naming convention. Also makes navigation easier on the search engines...

Thanks Doug. It's not so much what I'm trying to do in particular, as I have several tasks to take care of, some of them done already, more a matter of needing to actually understand how it works in enough detail to be able to figure stuff out for myself.
