I have installed the dual 250GB SATA drives with RAID 0 configuration with INTEL MOBO P875 with INTEL RAID SATA Controller. The RAID 0 is configured in the SATA BIOS and I have used the F6 function to install the correct drivers for XP Pro. However, the system will keep rebooting after the files are copied and installed on the hard drive (Thats 500GB Striped). If I remove the XP CD, it will not boot at all. So I installed the SATA 250GB hard drive as primary boot, disabled the RAID set and installed XP Pro it works fine. When I enable the RAID 0 (Migration tool) in the XP software (From Intel) the system then does not boot anymore after the raid set has been completed. Is it the drivers that caused the system to be unstable or the XP SP1a itself that caused the incomplete boot? I'm at the stage where I just want to burn the complete computer. LOL.

System configuration:

Intel P4 3.0 HT Processor
Intel P875 Mobo with RAID
dual 512MB Kingston hyper RAM DDR PC433
MX 250GB SATA (2 drives)
ATI 9800 XT 256MB AGP 8x
Memorex DVD-RW
LG CDR-W/DVD
Audigy Platinum
500 WATT PSY Antec

what am I missing?

Please help!

One thing you might try is installing a simpler OS - Windows 98, say, or maybe Windows 2000 (depending on what that controller supports) - on your array. If 98 works and XP doesn't, it's fair to suggest that your RAID hardware is OK and you'll need to examine your actions during the XP install. If 98 doesn't work, it's time to examine your hardware.

Honestly, the easiest thing to do when dealing with RAIDs on PCs is to boot off of some form of non-arrayed hard disk.

And why do you need a 500GB stripe set, anyway?

I've solved my problem, I have updated my system bios (INTEL P875PBZ) from Intel's website and reset the bios after that and BOOM, the stripe works... I guess Intel is aware of that problem and have since solved it (Bios update Feb 2nd 2004). Now it works like a charm! Why am I striping the boot drives? To play games of course! LOL Thanks for the help!!

Did you look into the (essentially zero) impact RAID0 would have on your gaming? Or the deleterious consequences of a failed array?
