Toshiba doesn't have jack Shite on its website. Have I done my Toshiba wireless network card rant here sometime not too long ago? If you misssed it, just fillin the gaps with some outrageously bad stuff, punctuate with salty language to taste - it will probably fit close enough to the facts as not to matter. Absolute horseshite non-service and shnky business ethics from this once-proud company. A I surprised Merc? Not one little bit.

Use the IBM one. Unless I missed something the IBM tool will work on non IBM drives.

They do, who is that then? I have only recently RMA'd drives to Seagate and Samsung and they didn't ask. WD didn't used to ask either but I havn't asked them for an RMA in a couple years.

Nope, WD doesn't nor have they ever required the error code. They'll ask, but they don't require it.
