Not usually, but some degradants are toxic, especially to people who are sensitive, or not young, healthy adults The shelf life of drugs is currently established through stability testing according to ICH guideline Q1A(R2). Many drug products are stable for longer than the labeled expiration date. For example, at the time a new drug is submitted for approval, there may only be enough real-time data to support an expiry period of 24-36 months. Later there maybe sufficient data to support approval of a 5-year expiry period, but the manufacturer may choose to label the product with a 3- or 4-year expiry period for marketing, liability and/or logistics reasons. Tablets are generally more stable than suspensions or solutions, but when the primary container seal has been broken actual environmental conditions can vary widely. The worst thing to do is leave tablets/capsules in open conditions for long periods of time. Pill boxes (e.g., the seven-day type) should also be avoided for long-term storage as they offer little to no protection from moisture and oxgen ingress.honold said:drugs don't usually become toxic or anything, they just become ineffective over time
You need four root canals? :eekers: Dare I ask how old you are?Piyono said:One down. Three to go.

Regular checkups are not my thing.
I've got a nice smile and a high tolerance for pain, so a little neglegence goes a long way in the mollars.

My dental history is, well, similar. I didn't go to the dentist for something like ten years and I like eating sweets. One day I realized my home-made attempts to alleviate pain, including my lame attempts at fillings, weren't cutting it any more. This was when I was 29. One year and $7,000 later I ended up with 1 extraction(#31), fillings on 9 teeth(#2,3,14,15,17,20,29,30,32), root canals on 4(#1, 18, 19, 21), 3 crowns(#18, 19, 21), and one bridge(#30,31,32). I haven't been to the dentist in seven years, but I don't feel any pain so it's likely I just need a cleaning and maybe a filling or two. Considering my neglect it's amazing that I have all my teeth save the one replaced by the bridge and 1 wisdom tooth.
BTW, I'm surprised you need any pain medication after the root canal. I took penicillin afterwards but nothing else. I usually don't even bother with needles while I'm getting dental work. I've had all my fillings done without any pain killers whatsoever and one root canal as well(the nerve was already dead). I will take a needle for an extraction or most root canals but it's only at my dentist's insistence. I kind of like the mind over matter thing that let's me cope with the pain. Maybe I'm a masochist at heart.
You would have had to if all four wisdom teeth were impacted.timwhit said:I have all of my teeth including my wisdom teeth. I refused to let those go.

I wonder if I am the only here who brushes his teeth over 20 times per week and has a professional cleaning every four months.
Is this a poll? :lol:blakerwry said:2 to 3 times a day here... haven't had a professional cleaning in a while though... do you use an electric toothbrush or regular? mouthwash? floss twice a day or just once... or less?
