Hello everyone,

A friend managed to pull some ECC DDR RAM off a server and said I can have them. Will ECC DDR RAM work in a motherboard (in my case, Abit NF-7) that only require normal (that is, non-ECC) DDR RAM? Actually, this question has been bugging me for some time and I am curious to know the answer :p

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Cheers.

According to Crucial's website:
The NF7:
Error Detection Support: Non-ECC only

However, there were several (5?) versions of the NF7 listed so I may not have chosen the correct one.

Thanks for your help. I should have know that it is not a simple case of ECC RAM working or not in every motherboard. Ah well, I might as well try the ECC RAM seeing how RAM prices sky-rocketing at this moment.

Thanks again for all your help.

Cheers.
