I'm floating you guys an idea to get your feedback. Would a tipbot service built and managed by us here be of any interest? For a quick summary of what I'm proposing, a tipbot is basically a plugin or service that would allow each of us to tip our peers on the forum using a cryptocurrency (ala Dogecoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin, etc for example) to reward helpful and interesting posts or just for the heck of it. I'm not suggesting anyone needs to get paid to post but there have been times people have put in extra effort to help others with their issues and it might be a nice way to thank them. The same tipbot concept is used on Reddit for individuals to share their appreciation for people's time and effort in helping each other.
With this idea of a tipbot system it doesn't have to be a displayed status symbol which could alter the way we interact. I would envision it as a way to click a button next to a forum user's post and send some coins to their wallet. The act of the transaction could either be public or private depending on how we want to manage it. Since these cryptocurrencies can be exchanged for actual local fiat currency it could be a fun way to reward or help our fellow forum members.
I haven't done a search yet but I don't think there is a system out there for forums to do this with cryptocurrencies. I figured it could be a more anonymous way to support and encourage our fellow forum members without having to share personal bank, Paypal, information.
