1) Screenwipe - Charlie Brooker is the best critic in the world! The first clip is about aspirational TV

And this one about the wonderful ITV time filler and profit maker 'The Mint'.

They require special fuels and spew a lot of pollution?
Yes indeed, 97 RON petrol, used to be called '5 star' petrol in the old days + a lead substitute additive.
It works out at about £1.20 a litre......
All worth it though. I am intending to show it this summer once I have had the front...
'I thought this thread would actually be about people....'
Old cars are a bit like old people,
- whine if they are pushed too hard
- bits fall off of them occasionally
- do things in their own time
- smell funny on hot days
I could go on.... But I can forgive all these things, 'cos I have a...
A 1972 BMW 2500 E3 saloon. Amazingly enough, no rust at all, and 37K on the clock. 1 careful owner from new, just spent £1250 on it before selling it on.
At last, have the car I have always been after....
Coug:
I have to take issue with a couple of your statements:
According to the TV report, social benefits cost GM, Ford and probably Chrysler too, around 1300$ per sold vehicles. Those benefits only cost asiatic car makers around 300$ per sale.
But no mather how good GM's and Chrysler's future...
That article is by Charlie Brooker; one of my favorite writers and presenters. His humour is a little 'British', but he has me on the floor in stitches a lot of the time. His series is on Youtube. If you want an example of his work (and the terrible standard of British TV) follow the link...
Well, it is time for yet anothe one of my rants about how much I hate a certain small percentile of the customers I have to be nice to at work. This one takes the biscuit, although I expect several of you have had similar experiences.
Guy brings in 22" CRT display. He is a photographer and...
Well, I have to say that these Core 2 Duos are really something else.... I just did a straight swop (retaining the XP installation) for my old 945/P4 3.4 to a 965 and a Core 2 1.83Ghz. The difference is unlike anything I have seen before. It seems in general boot up speeds and Windows about...
Err, well that would be Cisco then! Although, I have found 3com to be pretty OK, yolu need to spend a fair amount on very good kit to get the reliabilty. No-name stuff, and most branded-but-cheap kit will normally bite you on the ass at some point.
If only I could get people to pay for...
1. Fujitsu HDDs.
I am amazed no-one else mentioned them. I had an enjoyable 5 minutes this week telling some greasy Fujitsu Enterprise salesman exactly why I would never even entertain the possibilty of him coming to see me with a view to capturing our SCSI/SAS sales for Fujitsu. Apparently...
They have monopolized everything that it is possible to monopolize; they have
got the whole earth, the minerals in the earth and the streams that
water the earth. The only reason they have not monopolized the
daylight and the air is that it is not possible to do it. If it were
possible to...
The Money Trick
`Money is the cause of poverty because it is the device by which those
who are too lazy to work are enabled to rob the workers of the fruits
of their labours.'
`Prove it,' said Crass.
Owen slowly folded up the piece of newspaper he had been reading and
put it into his pocket...
I hope Tannin does not mind me butting in to his argument.
For all those who don't see what Tannin is refering to, download and read this http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/3608 book.
It explains the real roots of Socialism, and how it works in society. Although it was written before WWI, you can...
