Heat management: Water Cooling in an Apartment?

Maybe we can get Scythe to make a finned aluminum means of egress. Stick a couple box fans on both sides to pull air out and a water block at the bottom? :)

nVidia seems intent on adding $200 to the price of every GPU at this point. I'm really looking forward to the $325 4050 they're going to inflict on us once enough 4060s have hit retail. 225W is just a touch more than a 3060ti or a 2080 and seems reasonable for that desirable level of performance.

This is dumb but I think I like it: An A+E (m.2 wifi) key dual SATA bridge board. Got a desktop board with a useless wifi connector on it? Now you have another place to stick some drives!

It's sounding like the 4060Ti is going to be a $500 8GB card with roughly 3070 (no Ti) performance and a 160W TDP. The Arc A770 16GB @225W for $300ish and 3060 - 3060Ti performance doesn't seem THAT crazy right now for midrange gamers, especially since it's not easy to pick up a new 3060TI any...

Heat management: Water Cooling in an Apartment?

I live on the third story of a building that, because of the area, has a rather large number of security cameras. I have one of my own out there, mostly to keep an eye on parking spaces for my roommates. My PC would be in some sort of enclosure that would look like it belongs outside, in a place...

Heat management: Water Cooling in an Apartment?

Back on topic, I'm not a huge fan of watercooling. I understand that it can make components cooler and that's OK. But in my experience it's almost never worth the effort; parts are usually rated for temperatures well higher than they reach on air cooling, and most importantly, I've never...

Heat management: Water Cooling in an Apartment?

I don't mind anything up to about 100F. It's fine. Just something to get used to. My office is hot. My home is hot and my bedroom is hottest of all. I've had plenty of time to learn to deal with it.

Heat management: Water Cooling in an Apartment?

The -T variants of whatever Intel chip usually give about 90% of the performance for a fraction of the TDP. I used to use i5 Ts for HTPCs. DD would have to give up a little frequency peak and a lower idle but there's a lot of return on it. As far as moving air out, a big slow fan is just what...

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

I have an 1100W Threadripper for a desktop and no AC. Wear less clothes and keep hydrated. Just to be slightly more reasonable about it, the heat is still present. You can keep your parts cool with a water loop and radiator, but the either way, you're still radiating that heat somewhere, and in...

My mental health is much, much better when someone is around, so I choose to let people live with me. This isn't difficult. I have more space than I need and I don't need help keeping bills paid, so there are usually one or two others who are to some degree staying with me. My place stays...

    Computer Cases

I don't think Cooler Master cases are appropriate for people who like mechanical disk drives. Most of those N400/N600 chassis will only have two or four places they can mount a 3.5" drive, plus 2 - 3 places to hang a 2.5" drive on the back side of the case. They're fantastic as general purpose...

Canon's C-series RF bodies do the same thing with video. It's also true for Sony's video-specific cameras and even GoPros. It's all 10 bit 422. AMD soft-launched some power-limited and less expensive 7000-series Ryzen CPUs this week. They run at most more reasonable TDPs, under 100W, and can still be manually tweaked with increased power to get similar levels of performance. A 12c/24t 65W CPU looks pretty sweet to me.
