    Sony PS4

I think that it could be out of Sony's hands. EA - the same people who thought that SimCity was a good idea, and Ubisoft, who keep trying Assassin's Creed - will keep telling Sony how much money they're "losing" on not having those features in PS4 titles and it will either get rolled out...

They work pretty well as coasters. Really, they aren't completely worthless. They run apps. The apps do things. I suspect a lot of the stuff that a typical office worker does can be done just fine on an ipad. The ipad just has all these silly and arbitrary limitations and no particular...

Consoles need DRM to kill used games. Yes, some people will mod their machines to play pirated games. I suspect that's a vanishingly small minority of console owners, especially for the only console with a strong online gaming component, but that's what they'll point to, not the impact on used...

MySQL 5.6 on Ubuntu Server = no go

The chances are pretty good that the dependent libraries and their installed locations will be the same for whatever MySQL you happen to use. There's probably some stuff in /var/lib or /opt/lib or something, but if you're going to be reinstalling all that might mean is that you either overwrite...

No boys thusfar. I gave a key to my place to one of those special friends, for times when she's too wasted to drive 100 miles back to her actual home. I get a weird wake-up once or twice a month. She's getting better about being quiet when she comes in but back in February she came in at about...

If I had a good enough reason to need to download 16TB in a month, I'd goddammed better be able to do it since that's what I'm paying for and what my contract says they'll deliver to me. Yes Comcast probably hates me.

From midnight to 11:59PM on Friday I downloaded 119GB of stuff and sent another 31GB out. That's way above average even for me but it does kind of suggest that bandwidth caps on fast connections are pretty stupid. Why have a 50Mbit downstream path if you can't use it?

Oddly enough, I find a lot of embedded images that are from Intel press releases and not much of anything from anyone else. The important bit about Portal 2 is the quite charming voice acting. The whole game can be viewed on Youtube without all the hassle of actually playing the damned thing. I do know that Doom 3 and Quake 4 are available and would be a good test for modest systems. Painkiller is supposed to be...

"It depends." The speed of the Haswell IGP is supposed to be around the same as the nvidia GT640 or AMD 6670 at the top of the food chain, but to get that sort of graphics power, you're talking about having a high-end (mobile?) i7.
