Unfortunately, he is entirely within his right to give away his cattle by letting them wander. I seriously doubt any judge would force him to pay more than half. It depends on the laws but I would be surprised if he is required to have a fence at all. All in all, I would suspect this guy is...

It depends how your property is zoned. It is a bit humorous to me when yuppies move to the country and then complain about the cow/horse/pig/chicken/manure smell. At least once they have moved they get a touch of reality. PS. If it weren't for human nature, we wouldn't need laws.

When troubleshooting, if you are having difficulty getting the whole setup to work then you can use DHCP. It's just that the next time a particular machine's lease runs out it may get a different address. Some DHCP impemetations attempt to reassign the previously assigned address...

My main file server runs NT. It is a Dell P133 with 64M. It runs pretty well. Especially for someone that doesn't have something to compare to. I occasionally surf from it for programs and stuff.

The first step will be to make sure it gets installed. The second step will be to make sure the daemon starts at boot time. I usually pick the custom install but then I don't know what I'm doing. :)

That is a terrible problem. On the other hand, the dog is lucky the bad man did not leave out a bowl of antifreeze. Your friend should get the proper licenses and buy a shotgun and learn how to use it if she is truely afraid enough of this man. The law is your friend. She should then start...

    Free Virus scanner anyone?

Let's put it this way, with proper application edged weapons would reduce your very long arms to nubs and upper body strength without leverage is inconsequetial. Please stop annoying the humans. You would look awfully funny typing with your feet.

Consider the source. This little girl makes a habit of insulting humans twice her size. Humans that can hold things in one hand. Like edged weapons. Orangutan hand-to-hand combat is pretty limited.

Vlad, be aware that the rules regarding what is allowable in posts is different between SR and SF. It is conceivable that one might complain about a posts content on one site where the same post would be OK on the other site. It would be called following the rules, not hypocrisy.

Keyboard design has not improved since 1981

I am also in this camp. Once I switched I found it difficult to use. Eventually my typing speed surpassed the speed available from the standard keyboard and slight pains in the wrist disappeared. At that point it became difficult to type on a standard keyboard; taking a few minutes to type...

Windows XP paging file & Speed Disk

I am a little stumped. A version of SW I have (2001?) has in the past moved the page file to the beginning of the drive in one continuous mass on Win2K. I have since uninstalled it because, like Mark, it wasn't worth the trouble to maintain. I didn't have to go through any gyrations as I...

Woody doesn't seem to realize that the solutions he proposes would run him out of a job. Supporting the Arts is a luxury. And agrarian societies are not luxurious. It sounds nice. Agreed. I didn't realize this was an issue. I understand that in the past their have been sensitive security matters that the general public does not get access to. The very worst thing that could happen is that the Islamic world galvanizes into a unified entity acting with one mind. If I'm aware what this would mean to oil supplies and national productivity in countries like Japan, Taiwan and other countries who only import oil then national leaders are too.

IIRC, there is a setting to move the page file to the beginning of the disk during defragmentation (seperate from putting the file pagefile.sys at the beginning). You could also try making the file pagefile.sys unmovable.
