    60 users on-line?

Lots of Linux machines in the world are set up with a single disk for all the system partitions and no quotas on anything. Heck, lots of Unix boxes are set up that way. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Burst is, too. From days adminning the student workstations at university, my best guess as...

Wouldn't know, Cougtek. I know Flash doesn't come with Mozilla, and that it's not worth the time to download it. And Prof, I do hate pop music (rap, country, trash metal whatever the heck pop music is calling itself). But it's also very easy for me to avoid contact with it if I choose (if for...

I would, if I had hours to kill while I downloaded it, or if I had flash installed on any of my machines. In short, no way. PW, the web should be a universal experience. The INTERNET should be a universal experience. Now I get 100-line-long e-mail messages with one line of text and...

    This is a riot

Flash is malignant because 1.) Flash isn't available for every browser, even on Windows (it's not available for Mozilla, but works with Netscape 6), nor for many non-Windows OSes (Flash for OS/2 browsers? Flash for Linux browsers? Flash for webTV?). Sites using Flash are therefore making a...

Allow me to correct that: Private consultants used to make good money. Now we post on web forums and whine a lot. Check out epinions.com for reviews by actual product owners. Taken with a grain of salt. And as an aside... a friend of mine works at one of the local giant electronics stores as a PC tech, which is right next to the service/returns desk. He said Sony has had some of the worst product return...

Best Deal on at 32"-36" Tube TV

The usual suspects: mysimon.com, dealtime.com, crutchfield, vanns, j&r... Even ebay might be worth a look, if for no other reason than, if you e-mail the people selling TVs, you'll probably hit a couple of small shops willing to cut you a deal. I wouldn't buy a TV sight-unseen, however. Plus...

IMO Gibson makes valid point but also takes the "big scary evil" security problems with windows a step or two too far. The IDE (Integrated development environment) looks pretty nice. And newer versions of VB tend to be much better than those that precede it. VB is very good for certain types of small projects. VB still has a lot of room to grow to be comparable with other languages, unfortunately.
