    Online IQ test

I think describing intelligence as the ability to reason misses the mark, substantially; it discounts the other factors that make up the mind, to say the least. Everyone knows what I mean when I talk about "Rain Man"-type individuals. Idiot-Savants. Are those people truly intelligent, or is...

    Review of new Toyota Prius

Automobile emissions are a source of many things that don't mix very well with lungs, and then there's the whole issue in most of the Western World of dependence on the Middle East for oil. And also presidents named Bush would have fewer excuses for starting wars. The problem with Fuel Cells...

Development on it is ending. :( IMAP is absolutely a marvelous thing. The easy to use and maintain servers are insecure as all hell (firewall 'em), but besides containing email on a server, IMAP can also be used for file services in a home directory and the mail spool files for at least the...

    Online IQ test

Like maybe the test is too easy? It's also possible that the reason is that the folks here are mostly a couple of standard deviations away from the mean to begin with. Tannin would probably have some interesting things to say about this stuff, with the statistical nature of IQ scoring. IQ is...

timwhit, I don't want to say. It's not something I wear on my sleeve or that's particularly useful information. If I'm the guy with an IQ of X, then I'll be known forever as "the guy with an IQ of X, who couldn't figure out or failed at Y" with my every screwup.

Visionary Philosopher according to that test. No comment on my score. I actually know my IQ, and I question the value of using a 40-question exam to assess it, but I can accept that it's at least as good as a lot of other "Know your IQ" self-administered tests. I'll just say that there was a...

[NEWS] - Maxtor validates 175GB platters.

I was refering to the 3.5 to 5.25 adaptors that a lot of cases would have to use to fit in a HH hard disk. I can do without a floppy, but since a lot of cases only have 2 3.5" bays, I think a lot of other people might have a problem with that.

No. It's ONLY 350GB. 30GB larger than the biggest MaxLine now. 700GB... now that would be sexy. Especially @ 7200rpm+. I believe that falls into the "dream on" category but maybe we'll get lucky.

Installing nForce unified driver on Linux doesn't work.

That's pretty much how I do things. Sort of. Usually there's a lot of people complaining with major_package_X isn't working with RedHat. A lot of time, I work with the tar.gz's rather than RPMs. The instructions tend to work better and are more adaptable; there's not much of a chance that...

    Samsung ATA-133?

IIRC, Maxtor is the only company to actually adopt the ATA/133 designation. Everybody else calls their drives ATA100. This is semantics. If it's bigger than 128GB, it needs LBA48 support. Large numbers of Firewire and USB2 enclosures do seem to have a 120GB limit. Some newer models advertise...
