so far so good...
It seems perfect fro my needs. A 5 person license on the "Pro" version which lets you share and synch the rest of outlook is $99. Eventually i'll get it. Thanks for the offer though man. Much appreciated!
Okay so normally I come on here once every month or two and beg for information which you guys are always kind enough to help me with. Today I come with some perhaps, helpfull information.
As a small business owner money is tight and I have multiple work stations which I needed to be able to...
I think it gets down to this....the Honda while likely reliable is not REALLY a truck. It is designed to be used by guys who want a truck but really need a car. Sort of like the SUV craze. From what you describe of your friend It would seem to fit his needs okay.
Some of the other arguments...
Okay so here it goes....
As I said I took the hard drive out ( a SATA unit) and put it into my other machine it has worked flawlessly to this point.
My broken machin was one I built off of the reccomendations of folks on this sight as a workhorse machine.
Processor:
AMD Athalon AXDA2500DKV4D...
Thanks for the thoughts guys. I took the hard drive out of the offending machine and put it in as the second drive on my other machine. All my data is there and after about 9 straight hours of running its still doing fine and has not caused this machine to shut off. Granted it not the boot...
Okay...more info...
The sound much to my dismay seems to in fact be coming from my hard drive. For reference it sounds a lot like the old dungeons and dragons PC games that you can now buy the whole collection of for .99 Think of the sound when your character died LOL
My cpu temp was at 60...
Thanks for your insight Buck. I checked the event viewer in XP to see if maybe something was hitting a brick wall and registerring before it died but I dont see anything out of the ordinary....any chance this rules out the USB idea? I do have two USB printers and at least one is a 2.0 and I...
I have a computer that I built awhile ago which now seems to randomly shut off. First it makes a noise trough the PC speaker which reminds me of when I was young and playing with hotwheels. It sounds like a siren noise we would make. Either that or something from the Atari days. After a...
doh! obviously I missed this one :eekers: LOL I have been up to my eyebrows in my new business venture. Just got back from a week in Colorado...it got into the high 60s there during the day on occasion and we ended up getting into CT about 3:30 am last night after a 5 hour flight delay from...
Doug, I am usually asking questions rather then answerring them so this is especially exciting to me. I currently own an ati 9800 Pro card. When my machine was having issues I was pretty sure initially that my card may have been an issue. As it turned out it wasnt but it seems that it does...
Usually if it doesnt let you change your home page it is because it writes something in the registry. I Usually check the registry for entries matching the web page address exactly...then I delete them.
I have never used firefox but I would assume its a file associaition thing. Has to be a...
Now Buck.... don't hold back! tell us how you really feel!
As for the processor I just want this thing to be viable for a long time. I have always tried to buy the second to top range (or thereabouts) processor. A gig of ram is pretty standard for most decent machines and while I have...
Hey guys,
I will be opening a business of my own around the February time frame which requires me to have a dedicated machine. After my fun time with RAM issues (compatability) in the gaming machine I just built I am trending towards buying a machine like a Dell / SONY etc. I need a...
I have always wanted to try hunting. I am a meat eater and do enjoy venison when I can get some. My Uncle bow hunted for many years but he has not gone in awhile as he has gotten older and just doesnt want to sit out in the cold any more
not quite the same but....
I have dish network sattelite TV and it came with a DVR device. Much like heated seats in a car (which came in our newer Audi) I never thought I would use it. I am here to say I use both...OFTEN. Now mine wont record to disc and only works off its RAM but the unit...
I think the key is to get memory that works specifically witn the Nvidia chipset and is a matched pair to take advantage of the dual channel architecture. Honestly since my new corsair got installed I have had ZERO problems.
Next I am going to get a nice LCD screen
Doug,
I currently work...
The kingston tech I spoke with, multiple techs actually, said that kingston does not make a 400mhz product that is compatible with my asus mother board. The nvidia chipset in general is supposedly not something they do well with. I got corsair twinX1024-3200c2 i had kingston valuram...
Update
Well good news! I got some new corsair RAM which was reccomended for my Nvidia chipset and dual channel ram configuration and everything is awesome. Machine is fast...no more errors etc. Thanks for all your help and suggestions guys. :mrgrn:
well with further research I am really thinking RAM. The fine folks at Kingston let me know that the RAM I purchased ( not from them) has been listed for some time as incompatible for my mother board and ASUS whole heartedly agrees. Everything I described to the tech at Kingston sounded very...
I had that happen once....it booted and worked for awhile and then popped all over again and it was the power supply going bad. I later got another power supply ( scavenged from another case) and it lasted a few months before popping and crapping the bed.
Well...as requested...here goes..
VCORE 1.69
+3.3V 3.2 but fluctuates to 3.4 and back occosionally
+5 4.99 but fluctuates down to 4.97 and back sometimes
+12 12.8
That mean anything to anyone? :eekers:
I had another older drive which worked fine where the 80 gig didnt so at this point I am not thinking mother board. I am running optimal settings and NOT over clocking anything. Anyone have any suggestions on brand of Ram? I would likely either get 2 512 dimms (ddr 400) or just one big one gig...
The fan is working on the card and my case has two side panel fans which as it turns out blow outside air right onto the card where it is positioned.
In other news. I have run memtest as was suggested and am getting bad results. I have two ddr400 chips which together equal a gig. Using only...
I have installed direct x9.0 and XP service pack 2 and I have the latest catalyst drivers Its not just during games that it dies...seems to die randomly whenever it wants like when I am online. I am planning on trying to start over...complete rebuild. maybe my build is bad. I have done a lot...
:o Well good news and bad....I got XP to installl as well as my DSL connection...thats the good news...the bad newsis that my Radeon 9800 pro is a very unhappy camper. I called ATI but they want to pin it on the BIOS of my ASUS motherboard. I cant seem to update that...I think I am doing it...
I have said it before but I'll say it again! The file name was a little different but I was able to figure it out and get the driver to install windows on my SATA drive....well its installing to the drive now...have to ait and see how successfull I'll be :mrgrn: thanks again guys!
Okay..so I tried a jumperless 80 gig...it still wouldnt go..in the words of Dr McCoy..."Its dead Jim" As for the SATA drive..... I cant seem to find a driver that fits on a floppy which is what i would seemingly need for XP to recognize it at start up. I got it recognize it as a secondary...
Buck, It was jumpered as a master and was the only thing on the cable. I haven't tried to "unjumper" it or let it do cable select as Merc suggested yet but I will. In the meantime in between time. i bought a 120 gig SATA drive. 7200 rpm and an 8mb cache. Of course now I have no idea how to...
Huh... I'll give that a try tomorrow before I go out and buy a new one...anyone have any recommendations on what drive(s) to buy? my case and motherboard are SATA capable. Would it be worth the extra bucks I would expect it to be to get a large drive that is SATA?
Okay then...problem solved. I had bought the 80 gig WD hard drive months ago and never ended up even opening the package. I just threw in an old 6.2 gig I had lying around and whammo! bios loads fast as hell...XP installs first try and XP runs lightening quick! I just wanted to say thanks to...
"socket A" AMD 3200
the power supply is marked as MGE and the model they have checked off is LC-B400ATX It is what came with the case obviously i have tried one ram here and there and everywhere. At this moment I am looking into why the hard drive seems to freeze whenever i run the western...
71F on the board and 117F on the CPU itself
As for bios defaults I did try that initially. Its only since it failed that I have begun messing with settings in the bios. :-?
Hi Guys. i am pulling whats left of my hair out here... heres what I have.

Western Digital 80 Gig...
possibly referring to a well publicised case in which a cult group commited mass suicide by drinking "spiked" (poisioned) kool aid? I think they were in California and wer semi famous for all having died wearing the same brand of nike shoe.
I can respect the efforts of all those cars. That Datsun is pretty quick! As for NEDRA. I couldn't tell at a glance wether those are 8th mile tracks or quater mile tracks. Either way racing is racing and I would salute anyone who tries to field a vehicle and be competative. Its still the...
Hmm.. yeah that twleve was a definite typo! oops.
As for the 80 horses...Its hard to explain. I consider myself an automotive enthusiast...of course there are different types. Some one who follows cars like the Prius could claim to be an enthusaist too. Their concentration would be on...
Wow! I could never be happy in a car like that. gas Mileage be damned. I'll admit people shouldnt need 300 or more horses for everyday driving but I honestly dont feel i could ever be happy driving an 80 hp 1700lb car.
I think that the smaller the car is the faster it feels. This is...
The thing I noticed was that its all Hon-duhs and Toyotas except for the Volkswagon obviously. No Fords or Chevies or Dodges. And don't give me the "Hon-duhs are built in Kentucky" crap its still an import. I wonder when the american car makers are going to enter the field. I had heard ages...
In the interest of providing free info....
For those of us who are more inclined to buy more environmentally sound vehicles...

I still think most compacts and even some mid size cars are tin cans. My 2000 Trans Am is about 80 percent plastic as far as body panels go... great dent resistance though. Weight of things like body panels has been reduced likely to compansate for all the related crap they put in the cars...
One other thing... I could agree to a weight restriction...my truck would definitely fall as less then 4000 lbs and as for height...its lower then most trucks I see... its stock but it wasn't a jacked up truck originally. I did hit the jag on the topside of the rear bumper which is likely most...
cripes man let it go...firstly... my truck HAS anti lock brakes or whatever qualified as anti-loc in 1991. secondly the road was wet and the trooper told me I was one of 5 accidents on that stretch of road due to freak snow and slush. thirdly it was a downhill slope. It was a variety of things...
Well I seem to have proven my own case....unfortunately. Even with being attentive and being careful...I rear ended someone this weekend on a wet stretch of road. 91 GMC Jimmy S15 (the small one) Vs 2000 Jaguar Type S. No ifs, ands, or butts about it. I won. My truck needs a new grill...a...
Thats LS1! :P Seriously though... insanely quick car with over 1000 horsepower. Even I don't need that much...but hey i sure would love to drive it just once. :mrgrn:
