We're staying in Sterling Heights. The tax rates are low (decreasing every year for ~10 years), and SH is usually in the top 10 safest cities in the US (I'm not sure if that is based on some type of population class or something). Actually, I've lived in SH since I was about 7.

We're going about 4.5 miles due north from our current house. So, we'll be about 20 miles north of the downtown Detroit area at the northern edge of SH. Here is a pic of our new house. Download and run this executable for a virtual tour.

Well, that copper has been there 8 years already. I'm not sure how that stuff is treated but I'm sure there there are some decent sealers than can be applied when needed. I'll have to look at that when we move in (2-6 weeks from now).

BTW: If anyone has any suggestions about that...I'd appreciate it!

brasso may polish, but it wont protect you from the weather... use clear enamel or laquer.. if you're too shy for that then use car wax once every 6 months to a year.

Thanks for the advice, btw. I would have replied sooner but the forums were not responding that day...

Congrats! Sounds like real estate is moving quickly nowadays. My next-door neighbor put their house up for sale a couple of weeks ago and basically sold it the first weekend. The contract has gone through, too, as the sign now says 'Sold'. I'm presuming they got asking price or very close to it. Heartening for us as our house is bigger, on a bigger lot, in just as good a shape, and we bought it 2 years ago for over $20K less than they listed theirs for.
