Anyone have experience with either or both of these?

I'm looking at replacing my full-bore RAID controller with something lighter, and would like to be able to have one mirror set.

Integrated mirroring appears to be the more robust implementation, but all of the literature mentions "boot volumes," which makes me think that you have to boot off of the array for it to work.

HostRAID is pretty obviously done in software, but looks to be more flexible in it use. The drawback is that it's only supported in Windows; if I finally get around to reinstalling Linux, I'm not sure how it'd react to an array.
