I have a system that crashes with BSOD while loading drivers(?), even in Safe Mode.

Is there any way to get around M$ bastardry that stops you booting from a CD and 'upgrading' to effect a repair?

SFC /scannow says there is a pending repair or some such drivel.

If you can start at least enough to get a command prompt, like through "Repair Your Computer", you can use the net stop command to prevent the relevant drivers from loading.
Which is a pain in the ass.

You should be able to boot from the CD and go back to a 'Restore Point'. Or install a back up if you have made one from Win 7.

Thanks Bozo, but neither of those options are available.

Merc, what sort of arguments does the net stop command need here? The examples I see pertain to services.

The last loaded message on the screen before the BSOD is "ClassPNP" I think (can't get at the PC right now).

Well I wasn't quite right (it WAS rather early in the morning when I wrote that). I was thinking of

listsvc disable drivername

which I'm sure I confused because of course one can stop some network services with the net command, something that still scars me from pre-4.0 Windows NT.
