Hey gang,
Anyone here familiar with the cities of Boston, MA, New Haven, CT, or St. Louis, MO? I may very well be moving for residency, and those cities, along with my current home of Minneapolis and Rochester Minnesota, which I'm somewhat familiar with, are my top 5 choices (Beth Isael Deaconess in Boston, Yale in New Haven, Washington University in St. Louis, the Univ. of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and Mayo in Rochester).

One thing I'm worried about is cost of living. I've found a few reasonable looking cost of living calculators, and compared to Minneapolis Boston is anywhere from 13-27%, New Haven is 5-8% more expensive, St. Louis is 10-23% cheaper, and Rochester is from 17% less expensive to 6% more expensive. There is some variations in what the programs pay, although adjusted for cost of living it looks like the Boston program will pay a lot less and the St. Louis program will pay a lot more.

Thanks,
Adcadet

I live 50 miles outside of boston and I've also spent time growing up in CT (windsor). My best friend went to school in new haven. Can't say I can recommend one over the other, but I'd hazard a guess Boston to be more expensive. Parts of New Haven can be less than ideal. It's near Bridgeport which is known to be quite rough in some areas. You'll be right near the coast if you move there.
