Hasn't a plane already done the around the world non stop thing? I could have sworn I've seen something like this before.

This will be the first nonstop, unrefueled, solo global circumnavigation. See here. The pilot will be Steve Fossett, who also went around the world in a sailboat and hot air balloon. In 1986 Dick Rutan (Burt Rutan's brother) and Jeanne Yeager set a record of nine days for a nonstop, non-refueled flight around the world.

I'd like to see a solo, human-powered flight around the world and also around the world by bike (possible when the Bering Strait is frozen over except for the Atlantic Ocean leg). Hot air balloon around the world? That didn't impress me at all. My father could have done it without the propane tank. :mrgrn:

Yep. Back in 1969, at Woodstock, some people claimed to have flown around the world in just under 24 hours.
