ASUS writing RAID software now?

Basically is ASUS writing their own software RAID? That 3114 chipset is just a controller as far as I can determine. Doesn't look like they are doing such a hot job of it either according to that guy, I didn't look closely at his numbers though. A new product to avoid? ASUS's "3114R" raid driver is WHQL though.

Not likely.
Silicon Image's controllers can be flashed IDE only or raid controllers.
I had an add-in card based one and had to flash it to IDE only to get it to work like I wanted.

Very interesting, so theoretically you could get a cheap add-in card flash it with the RAID BIOS and get a super cheap (and not to great performing) RAID controller? That reminds me of the good old days with the Promise Ultra to Fasttrak hack on the 66 and 100 controllers.

What was your add in card?
