I ordered some Seagate 4TB for $100 and some 6TB for $170 recently at the egg.

I think they are the same ones that have been around for over year. I have 10 or so, mainly used as backup drives. The 4 TB are 5900 RPM.

The 6TB are 7200 RPM, so I use them as primary drives. The standard middle mounting threads are absent since the platters take up the full height of the drive. Apparently that presents a mounting challenge in some applications, but not with my particular cases or external enclosures. It looks like they sold out. The same retail drives on retail packaging are around 250.
