Booting from USB

I've been poking around with a WD 80GB USB drive trying to get XP to boot from it. No luck.
I installed XP on the host computer and made an image of it with Acronis. Then I installed the image on the USB drive. That part worked fine.
But, I get a BSOD shortly after XP starts to load from the USB drive.
Anyone have any luck doing something like this??

I've was not able to do get it to work either, but I tried the same thing you did. There is a way to make it work per http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/09/09/windows_in_your_pocket/
