A local magazine recently published profiles of six contenders for Lord Mayor (the Lord is a carry over from when there were multiple cities making up Brisbane). Here's one of them:

Although he's no longer campaigning aftere being involuntarily admitted into psychiatric care, Nick Kapsis remains a valid candidate amd his name will appear on the ballot paper. According to his website, his plans include declaring independence from the state and federal governments. "Cosmic Nick" as he's known, says he is a pyschic mathematician, and plans to alter local government in Brisbane using "cosmic law" ideas.

So, I now have no problem working out who I'm going to vote for.

I've always said that we in the United States need something like the Raving Looney Party to lighten up our elections. But no one wants to compaign while in a clown suit....

Yes, but he wasn't wearing the clown suit when he won. Still won't.
