Browser development will continue through the Mozilla Foundation, a nonprofit presently funded by AOL and by Mitch Kapor. Mozilla, the product underlying Netscape, will continue development, and some of the programmers affected by these layoffs will probably be hired by the foundation.

But yeah, it's really sad and stupid that AOL paid $9 Billion for... nothing, at this point. The netscape portal is worthless without anyone pushing it. The server products got pushed to Sun, and the browser is now effectively unsupported.
