Has anyone seen a sound card driver that will make Windows 2000 think it has a sound card, when in reality it does not?

I put a HDTV tuner card in my PC to record HD to the RAID-5 array in it, but the system doesn't have a sound card, and that doesn't make the software very happy.

That didn't seem to work. I broke down and dug out an old Philips PCI sound card and stuffed it in the box.

It looks like a spoke too soon. Windows 2000 and the Philips Acoustic Edge do not like each other one bit. Back to Square 1.

I am omnipresent
Well, I know that I've gotten Acoustic Edges to play nice with 2000 before. Could there maybe be another issue? Something weird with DirectX, maybe?
