hey all -
I just picked up my wedding video from the videographer. The only problem is that the DVD versions are burned onto DVD-R disks. My Dell (Inspiron 8200) DVD player can see the files but not access them. Anyone know of a work around?

Thanks,
Adcadet

Get a less sucky DVD-ROM?

I've never seen a DVD-ROM or DVD Player that DVD-Rs don't work in. I think I'd double check to make sure the discs play in a set top player before I went complaining.

I'm serious. If you'd like I'll convert your discs to +Rs for you, but everything I'm aware of works with -Rs. Fewer things work with +Rs, so I wouldn't expect improvement from that.

Don't blame your video guy if his equipment is working fine and did what it was supposed to do.

On the other hand, if it doesn't play in a set-top unit *or* your fairly new DVD-ROM drive, I'd find the guy and string him up. It's his job to provide you data in a usable format.
