Editing RealMedia files

hey all -
as I've explained elsewhere, I'm getting lectures in RealMedia format, which I've been told is a pretty heavily compressed format. Is there any easy way I can edit the files? Some of the lectures include a bit of dead air time before or after the lecture, and some files contain two lectures I'd like to split up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are these .RA files or .RM?

they are .rm files - both audio and video

Take a look at Streambox VCR. It's in legal limbo, 'cause the company that made it closed up shop a few weeks ago, but it's available for download lots of places.
