My expectations have remained below basement level ever since Jar Jar Binks set foot on screen.

Yep, my expectations have dropped so significantly that I might enjoy this one...
So, why bother to give Lucas $ for it if you don't have high expectations? You should be excited by the release. If you aren't, why bother to pay to see it? Demonstrate your expectations by not paying to see it; paying only shows support for the work. (I'm not saying you should try to see it without paying; just that maybe you need not bother to watch it at all. Like me.)

I very much like the original (pre-mucked up) trilogy. I bought a very expensive LaserDisc box set of that version of the trilogy and consider it to be one of the more valuable items in my media collection. However, after paying to see Episode I and learning of all the crap re-mastering of the original trilogy, I decided that Lucas' vision had diverged from my interest in the SW universe. As such, I have not seen Ep II and will not see Ep III.

Star Wars was a good/fun movie.
Empire was a good sequel.
Return was a bit too cheesy.
Episode 1 .. c'est fromage.
Episode 2 .... no clue, didn't see it, couldn't care less about Lucas' quest for more money.
Episode 3 looks like it could be more along the lines of the first two movies (which is good), but I have my reservations.

Talking about cheese, that scene in the trailer where the burning ship is being waterbombed by the other looks pretty dumb.

I loved the first 3 movies, they were certainly my favorite films growing up. I went into #1 expecting more of the same feel, suspense, excitement, and quality - Dissapointed. I went to see #2 expacting maybe not the same excitement or feel, but still a good film with characters I was familiar with - Dissapointed. I'm going to see #3, but with the hope that maybe it's a decent movie. I don't think I'll be dissapointed. I am looking forward to it more than other films I've payed to see and not regretted.
