Yes, I believe Handruin is currently doing daily backups to CD.

Every night before I sleep a backup is done. I copy the backup to my drive and then I archive it to CD.
I am also logging a few statistics which I will share with everyone once more conclusive data is gathered. I am tracking the number of members, the amount of posts, the size of the DB, and the bandwidth consumed.
If anyone else has more ideas on a complete backup please let me know.

Right now a lot of stuff is simply being left to Doug, our no-life webslave. More formal procedures (for backing up and for a whole lot of other stuff too) are in the pipeline. More news shortly.
